The WIP'S Silver Anniversary: 25 years of service
Founded in 1993, the WIP's stated mission is to "bring together the most recognized experts in the field of pain medicine throughout the world for the advancement and standardization of interventional pain practice and the achievement of improved standards of care for pain patients."
The ongoing commitment to fulfillment of this mission is evident as WIP presents the 9th World Congress in Dublin. The location on the Emerald Isle is a most fitting setting for this milestone event. The lush green landscape, covered in shamrocks, exudes new life and hope while it envelopes the proud and historic city of Dublin, a place that has been and continues to be home to authors, poets, philosophers, scientists and innovators. Both metaphorically and physically, Dublin provides an ideal opportunity for WIP to celebrate the accomplishments of the past 25 years and to explore how best to evolve over the next quarter century.
As we engage in our celebration of learning to advance the care for pain patients around the world, we remain grateful to those who have come before us to illuminate our path. This internationally diverse group of founders and friends, P. Prithvi Raj, David Niv, Serdar Erdine, Ricardo Ruiz-Lopez, and Gabor Racz, had both the vision to imagine what could be and the fortitude to execute their plan, bringing that vision to fruition. I am confident that our dearly departed founders, Drs. Raj and Niv, would be pleased with the progress of their mutual dream.
The dream can only continue to advance and evolve to keep WIP relevant to the pain community, relevant to pain physicians, relevant to pain patients and continue to lead innovation in pain care for the next 25 years with the participation of all of you. Thank you for your active participation in our 9th World Congress on the occasion of this Silver Anniversary celebration.
